SCHOOL OF THE MOUNTAIN IN THE MAIRA VALLEY

The Maira Valley is one of the wildest and most authentic corners of the Western Alps, a true gem characterized by an extraordinary historical and environmental variety, making it one of the most appreciated destinations by mountain lovers across Europe and beyond.

The educational project of the Rifugio Campo Base offers primary and secondary schools, as well as associations and spontaneous groups, the opportunity to approach and experience some of the realities that make our valley unique. Getting to know the territory, its history, and engaging in the various activities that can be carried out in our environment means giving young people a seed of love for the mountains and two days of socialization that will last for years.

Mountain as a way of life, a place for productive activities, and a terrain suited for recreational and sports activities, in a region characterized by dozens of small villages whose beauty is breathtaking.

With the educational activities promoted by Campo Base, it will be possible to meet and experience, through the competent guidance of specialized staff, the mountains in every aspect.

Practice hiking, discover the fauna and flora of our Alps, follow tracks, listen to stories that recount the harsh lives led for centuries by the inhabitants of the scattered villages, like stars in every corner of the valley’s territory.

A true journey, the destination of which is our refuge, originally a military barracks and later transformed into a place of sharing among people and discovery; a simple and welcoming stopover, whose appeal lies not in rustic luxury, but in our ability to lead you to touch the heart of what surrounds us.

The Rifugio Campo Base and the Maira Valley are open for school trips for children and young people of all ages.
For the younger ones, it will be an exciting experience to approach the mountains, sleep in a refuge, and appreciate the moments of sharing, while taking easy hikes to connect with nature and immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of the trails at the foot of the Cascades de Stroppia and the Rocca Provenzale.

Older students will have the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and passionate guides who will lead them to discover the many aspects of our territory.

The educational offer is very diverse. The proposed activities, whether educational or recreational-sportive, can be distributed and alternated throughout the stay, giving the possibility to create a custom-made program for each group.

Il s’agit de parcours indicatifs. Il est préférable de construire des programmes personnalisés en fonction des besoins de chaque groupe.

GÉOLOGIE ET ASTRONOMIE

Durée : 2 jours (1 nuitée) – avec possibilité de prolongation et développement supplémentaire du programme pédagogique

Programme synthétique :

Jour 1

Arrivée au Rifugio Campo Base
Journée d’excursions avec déjeuner en plein air dans la vallée du Maurin, excursion au pied des Cascades de Stroppia, géologie des roches, reconnaissance des paysages et des géomorphologies locales, naissance des Alpes, les dinosaures de la vallée de la Maira
Dîner au refuge
Soirée astronomique (en cas de mauvais temps, jeux d’astronomie ou leçon théorique multimédia)

Jour 2

Petit déjeuner
Visite guidée du hameau de Chiappera, en mettant l’accent sur l’histoire et la vie d’autrefois en haute montagne, randonnée facile en forêt et aux Sorgenti del Maira
Déjeuner en plein air et visite des grottes de travertin de Saretto
Retour

CARTOGRAPHIE ET ORIENTATION

STRATÉGIES DE RÉSOLUTION DE PROBLÈMES AVEC UN INSTRUCTEUR DE SURVIE

Durée : 2 jours (1 nuitée) – avec possibilité de prolongation et développement supplémentaire du programme pédagogique

Programme synthétique :

Jour 1

Arrivée au Rifugio Campo Base
Introduction à la cartographie, à l’orientation et à la lecture d’une carte, suivie d’une randonnée facile avec activité d’orienteering
Déjeuner en plein air et sortie axée sur le problem solving avec un instructeur de survie
Dîner au refuge et sortie avec épreuves d’allumage du feu avec des méthodes de fortune

Jour 2
